Dwelling

In my dwelling,
I have found,
Too much confusion,
And when I think,
I think too much,
And so delusion,
Takes my brain,
Where I can't find it,
Like I'm somewhere,
Trapped behind it,
And if I knew,
Oh never mind,
It's an intrusion,
In my dwelling,
There are people,
Who aren't there,
I can see them,
Sitting cross legged,
On the chair,
But when I reach
To touch them,
They disappear,
So I can't trust them,
So I guess,
I'll fix my eyes,
Into a stare,
In my dwelling
On myself,
I've come between me,
And now I can't remember,
If I've seen me,
But I'll keep on keeping on,
Till all is said and done,
And I think, I therefore have,
Forever, been me.

...for Dad.

Distant Presence

Your words and music,
Caress my aching mind,
I can feel the stress subside,
Your angels voice,
Brings a welcome, draining,
Tear to my eye,
And I'm grateful,
For your distant presence,
Your music,
Washing over me,
Purifies my soul,
And your gift's so sweet,
It bites my spine like fire,
So clear, there in your voice,
And I'm grateful,
For your distant presence,
Your voice,
Releases me from doubt,
With it's haunting, yearning, love,
It represents,
A pure, rare, truthful, talent,
Cascading down from above,
And I'm grateful,
For your distant presence,
Your voice,
Has enchanting innocence,
Inherently, inspiring,
So beautiful,
It heals my hurting heart,
And I hope,
You keep on singing,
Forever,
And I'm grateful,
For your distant,
Presence.

Bull

I am not a gifted poet
Just a spewer of the word,
If it forms a poem so be it
It irrelevant, absurd.

I am not a pretense prophet,
I just comment and observe,
Now and then as luck would have it
We get back what we deserve

I am not a saint, or seer,
Not a sentimental sage,
I am just another seeker
Turning  yet another page.

This is just a ball of fire,
Covered by a coat of mud,
We are just a bunch of carbon,
Floating in a sea of blood

Do not think what we do matters,
Earth will turn when we are gone,
We are just a tenant renting,
Eviction notice pending dawn

Heed these words, they are no deeper,
Than a babies unheard cry,
If we aren’t our brother’s keeper,
Truth be told, we live a lie.

This is just more bull I’m shitting,
No need to listen, nothing new,
What’s the diff I am only spitting,
Words and phrases over you.

Take or leave these words of wisdom,
For they are not wise at all,
We create with pride a prison,
Into which we all will fall.

Bottomless Pit

You talk to yourself,
And answer you back,
And look for the answers,
Where fiction is fact,
You stand on the bottom,
Of a bottomless pit,
Where what's underfoot,
Is all that you get,
So you look straight up,
At the pin prick of light,
That's so far away,
It's just out of sight,
As you wallow in darkness,
Searching for light,
Wishing for day,
Knowing, just night,
So climb from the pit,
Grab on to your sides,
Pull yourself up,
There's nothing to hide,
Climb from the pit,
And fill it back in,
Then bury the shovel,
If you want to win,
Bottomless pit,
Bottomless pit,
Once you've been there,
You'll never forget.

Steal Away

Lets steal away,
Just me and you,
Harness hope,
To self be true,
Fly to destiny,
Within our dreams,
Lets steal away,
To paradise,
Find the virtue,
In the vice,
The cards
This dealer dealt,
Are wild,  it seems.

Fly me,
Way up high,
Steal away,
From the lie,
Take me,
Where I can be me.
I’ve been,
Caged too long,
A song bird,
Without song,
Something,
Must be wrong,
With me.

We walk a fickle chosen path,
Alone we reap and feel the wrath,
We wallow in a tepid bath,
Of fear.
When all it takes is letting go,
To be the self you’ve come to know,
And break out from behind
The frozen mirror.

Steal me
From this jail,
Send me,
Through the mail,
Bend me,
I’m a nail,
In rock.
Do me,
I’m a hole,
Screw me,
And my soul,
Woo me,
Take control
Lets talk.

Let us sing a sweet duet,
Celebrate the fact we met,
This waters warm and so I’m wet
With dew.
Let us sing a melody,
Celebrate sweet ecstasy,
For I believe in harmony,
And you.

Steal away,
To be with you,
Just a dream,
They don’t come true,
Dysphorically
I write cathartic verse.
Steal away,
Into the night,
Leave behind,
This fear and fright,
Sweet destiny !
Please dissolve this curse.

Act Your Age

Act your age,
It’s only a number,
Where have you been,
Goin’ down, goin’ under,
What have you done,
Or can’t you remember,
Have you locked it away,
You pathetic pretender.

Well it’s not who you know,
In this rotten old world,
It’s who you blow,
And so swallow,
Don’t spit out, your pride.

Act your age,
Whatever that means,
For in this rotten old world,
It’s not who you know,
It seems,
So as time is fleeting,
Don’t beat yourself up,
Just keep repeating,
Never give up,
And never give up on your dream.

‘Cause it’s not who you know,
In this rotten old world,
It’s who you blow,
And so swallow,
Don’t spit out, your pride.

Futility

Another singer sings a song,
Spreads a message,
Right or wrong,
But no one listens,
To the words he has to say,
So such a futile exercise,
Shouldn't take us by surprise,
Because the drums and the guitar,
Just came to play,
And just what can music do,
But make you hum a bar or two,
No miracle's expected,
Or been claimed,
And to expect it to be more,
Than what it is,
Is to be sure,
A misconception,
In this mean well, message, game,
And I think this futile game,
Will always be the same,
So don't you get your hopes up,
For a savior,
For a guitar is a guitar,
And a drum is just a drum,
And neither has much to do,
With our behavior,
So the messages,
Keep coming,
And the messengers keep humming,
And the drummers keep on drumming,
Out their beat,
But if you think someone will get it,
Well you can just forget it,
For it's a given,
That what fades also repeats,
So meanwhile keep on dancing,
To the music and the beat,
Eventually the message might get through,
That no matter what is said,
The message isn't dead,
For the music may be all we need to do.
