Idle No More
I hear the drums,
They should sound foreign to me,
But the rhythm speaks to my soul,
Echos off this hearts inner chambers.
I am not them, yet I am.
They are not me, yet they are.
This oneness surrounds us all
Like a mother's arms
An extension of earth's tears.
Yet we hesitate to embrace it,
Like scared rabbits in sheltered lairs,
Wearing our shame like a perverted badge of honour,
These drums are your drums,
They are the heart and soul of everyone,
They beat against the tyranny of excess.
Honour them. Join them,
Lets us all be,
They should sound foreign to me,
But the rhythm speaks to my soul,
Echos off this hearts inner chambers.
I am not them, yet I am.
They are not me, yet they are.
This oneness surrounds us all
Like a mother's arms
An extension of earth's tears.
Yet we hesitate to embrace it,
Like scared rabbits in sheltered lairs,
Wearing our shame like a perverted badge of honour,
These drums are your drums,
They are the heart and soul of everyone,
They beat against the tyranny of excess.
Honour them. Join them,
Lets us all be,
Idle no more.
