Tell Them They Can Shove It

They're trying to divide us,
Yeah, cut us in two,
They want you to hate me,
And me to hate you,
Well tell them they can shove it,
It's all up to you,
Think for yourself,
Go get a clue.

It's all about control,
And the money they make,
Squeezing everyone,
Always on the take,
Well tell them they can shove it
We all need a fair shake,
Don't go back to sleep,
You're barely awake.

Yeah tell them they can shove it,
Where the sun don't shine,
Tell them we're us,
Not me and mine,
Tell them we're the same,
You're not buyin that crap,
You're sick of these games,
And don't need their map.

They're trying to put you in a pigeon hole,
Convince you to be frightened
Of your own heart and soul,
But never mind these selfish greedy assholes,
Just tell them they can shove it,
You're taking control.

It's About Us

Do you care about lives of others,
Or do you need someone to blame,
Are you in tune with your sisters and brothers,
Do you know that we're all the same.

Do you fall for the division and fear,
Do you know it's what they want you to do,
Do you know enough to look in a mirror
And see it's about us, not you.

It's about us,
Do you even care.
It's about us,
Not about any sins,
It's about us,
Or it's about nothing
It's about us
Or nobody wins.

It's about us,
But the apathy lingers
It's about us
And the selfishness burns
It's about us,
Not your personal demons,
It's about us
But nobody learns.

Do you think that you are the focus,
Do you think that you are the one,
Do you think that you only matter,
It's about all of us under the sun.

Do you think that they are the bad ones,
Do you think that they are to blame,
Do you think that they will infect you,
Or can you see we're all the same.

True North

It was a place we imagined as different,
Not a belligerent blunderbuss pushing our weight around,
Not a loud mouth shilling for the greedy,
But a beacon of reason in an otherwise crazy world,
A voice of peace during times of war,
There when needed but stoic in the resolve
That obtaining and maintaining peace was the goal,
Not perpetuating war for profit, protecting absconded assets
Or going along to get along, with mass military murder.
We were Canada, envied and trusted for years as
A country who’s people were full of heart and caring…
Not only for their fellow countrymen but for all those who
Needed our help in this world.
This, my friends, was a dream.
A dream now being dismantled by the same self centered arrogant
Attitude that led to the ill treatment of the indigenous,
The same self centered arrogance that led to Lac Megantic,
To Walkerton, To Mt Polley, to lysteria deaths and to the BC oil spill.
Do we want to be the Canada striving to be good?
Even though we have not had a perfect past?
Or do we want to keep on with this narcissistic,
Self centered, us vs them, profit driven vision of
I, me, and mine?
I prefer the former. Canada is we, not I.
True North, strong and free.

H G Wells quote 2

"The catastrophe of the atomic bombs which shook men out of cities and businesses and economic relations, shook them also out of their old established habits of thought, and out of the lightly held beliefs and prejudices that came down to them from the past" H.G. Wells. 1914

H G Wells 1914.

"Nothing could have been more obvious to the people of the early 20th century than the rapidity with which war was becoming impossible... and as certainly, they did not see it. They did not see it until the atomic bombs burst in their fumbling hands. "  H.G. Wells... The World Set Free. 1914.

untitled

I am what I am in my heart,
I can't care what people might think,
I've bled long enough, each drop is me,
I think now it's time that I drink.
You are what you are in your soul,
Believe in the senses you feel,
Accept, be content with yourself,
For you have control of the wheel.
Just be what you feel you should be,
You cannot be anything more,
Shed this mask known as fear and you'll see,
That you are what you're waiting for.

Big Bamboozler

There’s a big bamboozler,
Running the show,
He’s got something to say,
He wants you to know,
It may not be true,
But he’ll repeat it until
You’ll think that he spiked your drink,
With a pill.
So beware of the one,
With the shifty grin,
You’ll find more common sense,
In your bottle of gin,
For he’s not here for you,
He’s a puppet at best,
But hey, don’t be alarmed,
This is only a test.
If this had been,
An actual emergency,
We’d be over run by
A radical insurgency
There’s a big bamboozler,
Running the place,
With blood on his hands,
And egg on his face,
He wants you to know,
That he’s doing a good job,
Allowing lobbyists,
To ransack and rob,
So hold onto your hat,
Get your things nailed down,
He’ll be handing out goodies,
Soon in your town,
This time it’s fear
Yeah, He’s selling protection,
Sounds like a racket
Let your vote be rejection.

Cash Cow

It was really only a dream,

There is no special place,

No shining example of moral courage

No peacenik crusader for the down trodden

No alternative voice

Shining a bright light

In the face of an evil

Perpetual war machine.

No that was a dream,

Now we are awake

And the reality is, war won,

It’s the norm,

The cash cow.

Happy?
