Stop and Think

Stop looking at the shiny things,
Start looking at your heart,
Stop caring about what Santa brings,
Start giving, for a start.

We’re only here for so much time,
Don’t make it just about you,
Think for yourself, open your mind,
That’s all you need to do.

We have lost our way through selfishness,
We have lost our way through hate,
We have lost our way through fear and doubt,
I hope it’s not too late.

I’m not speaking to you from a pulpit,
Not speaking to you from a throne,
I’m speaking to you from my heart and soul
Something that nobody owns.

We are led to the slaughter like cattle,
Controlled with a stick and a prod,
Told to get in line and wait for the end,
Told, we’ll be saved by a god.

So take heed, wake up, you are sleeping,
A hood has been pulled over your head,
Get off of your ass and start caring
Before we all end up dead.
