Stop and Think

Stop looking at the shiny things,
Start looking at your heart,
Stop caring about what Santa brings,
Start giving, for a start.

We’re only here for so much time,
Don’t make it just about you,
Think for yourself, open your mind,
That’s all you need to do.

We have lost our way through selfishness,
We have lost our way through hate,
We have lost our way through fear and doubt,
I hope it’s not too late.

I’m not speaking to you from a pulpit,
Not speaking to you from a throne,
I’m speaking to you from my heart and soul
Something that nobody owns.

We are led to the slaughter like cattle,
Controlled with a stick and a prod,
Told to get in line and wait for the end,
Told, we’ll be saved by a god.

So take heed, wake up, you are sleeping,
A hood has been pulled over your head,
Get off of your ass and start caring
Before we all end up dead.

Ode to Shylock

Criminal bankers, in control,
Take your money and your soul,
A pound of flesh, Close to the heart,
Empty your wallet, For a start,
See, your debt prison term's begun,
We'll take an arm and leg,  for fun,
Hope you wont be needing a first born child,
We'll need the collateral for a while,
So sit right back and pay no mind,
We do our best work from behind.
And don't you mind that GMO corn
Makes awesome munchies,
To go with your porn,
So sit right back and pay no mind,
We've been counting your chickens,
Since the beginning of time.

Sold Out

They've twisted his head,
And scrambled his brain,
He's stressed to the limit,
A little insane,
He "works for the government",
AKA Unemployed,
A little upset,
A lot annoyed,
He's been given the shaft,
Told to rotate,
Change his career,
A little too late,
He's about to explode,
Like a jack in the box,
There's a mortgage to pay,
And holes in his socks,
He's by no means alone,
As his fellow men fall,
Like so many bricks,
In a mortarless wall.
And there's no end in sight,
To this bottomless hole,
As he prays for salvation,
And then sells his soul,
So he cries in his drink,
And takes a deep breath,
As he stop and thinks,
At least it ain't death,
So he sits and he waits,
For it all to improve,
As he ponders his choices
And plans his next move,
And he hopes that it isn't
As dark as it seems,
'Cause he knows if it is,
He'll know what it means,
A future with nothing,
A future without,
In a country, who's leader,
Has just sold him out.
