Youth

Yesterday I was seventeen,
Today I’m thirty-two,
Tomorrow I’ll be sixty-five,
I’m just as young as you,
Today I woke and saw my face
And in my mind I thought,
The youth that dwells within my head,
Is not what time has bought,
I think time steals the flesh,
But souls remain intact,
To prove the point,
I think that I am younger than in fact,
Another day goes by so fast,
A week, a month, a year,
We try to cling to youth with age,
Mainly out of fear,
Fear not my friends,
The path is there,
The one that we should take,
It leads to where we’ll meet again,
To love, for heaven’s sake.
