Futility

Another singer sings a song,
Spreads a message,
Right or wrong,
But no one listens,
To the words he has to say,
So such a futile exercise,
Shouldn't take us by surprise,
Because the drums and the guitar,
Just came to play,
And just what can music do,
But make you hum a bar or two,
No miracle's expected,
Or been claimed,
And to expect it to be more,
Than what it is,
Is to be sure,
A misconception,
In this mean well, message, game,
And I think this futile game,
Will always be the same,
So don't you get your hopes up,
For a saviour,
For a guitar is a guitar,
And a drum is just a drum,
And neither has much to do,
With our behavior,
So the messages,
Keep coming,
And the messengers keep humming,
And the drummers keep on drumming,
Out their beat,
But if you think someone will get it,
Well you can just forget it,
For it's a given,
That what fades also repeats,
So meanwhile keep on dancing,
To the music and the beat,
Eventually the message might get through,
That no matter what is said,
The message isn't dead,
For the music may be all we need to do.
