I Saw

I saw a baby's hollow eyes,
Scream the question, why?
I saw a rich man dancing,
And a grieving mother cry,
I saw a privileged few explain,
Why they got so big,
I saw a withered wanderer,
Dining on a twig,
I saw the morning come again,
And another night escape,
I saw the day we dream about,
In slumber, taking shape,
I saw an angry poet,
Spill her putrid guts,
I saw her vent her anger,
To keep from going nuts,
I saw a whining wonder boy,
Counting all his cash,
I saw him blow his brains out,
To amputate a rash,
I saw the senseless slaughter,
Of innocence condoned,
I saw complacence in the mirror,
Chewing on the bones,
I saw a helping handful caring,
For all of those in pain,
And then I saw sweet apathy,
Raise it's head again.
