A Tear
A tear drops from my window,
Leaking from my soul,
Witness to the pain involved,
To make a mind's eye whole,
I see through foggy wetness,
A vision that is clear,
Of people caught in a quicksand,
Of hate, love, hope, and fear,
And all the resolutions,
We've heard tell about,
Are concealed by indifference,
As money feeds our doubt,
And optimism's brother,
Is never far behind,
When playful politicians,
Play tricks with people's minds,
So if we seem sarcastic,
Or cynical, today,
It's just our love of money,
Still getting in the way,
For all the good we're doing,
Has evil lurking near,
Waiting for a weakness,
To reinforce our fear,
And as our souls are draining,
From the windows of our minds,
Be careful not to sell them,
Or they'll be hard to find.
