Child of War

Up rooted by war,
Where love once grew,
Dirt now lives,
Barren and cold,
Where hope glimmered,
Despair laughs, triumphant,
But perhaps, from this ground,
Caring and love will rise
To see another sun,
And though sometimes,
Our senses appear to lie dormant,
Due to violence and hate,
And no longer function normally,
The hostility must not win,
Child of war, forgive us,
Your blank stare,
Says it all, WHY ? !
Child of war,
I wish your tears
Could cleanse the ignorant.
